Can I Represent You Out of State?

Attorneys are licensed by individual states. Jim can practice in both Kentucky and Indiana. But what if you’re involved in a collision in Florida, Georgia or even Utah?
In most situations, you can hire Jim Desmond to represent you, but he will have to “co-counsel” with an attorney located in the same state where the collision occurred. The laws of that state will control the claim.
However, just because 2 attorneys are working on your claim, it DOES NOT mean you have to pay 2 separate attorney fees. The attorneys will split the fee, rather than both charging the client. This usually doesn’t increase the fee paid by the client based on the percentage of the amount recovered from the at-fault driver, at the end of your case. In fact, you might look at it as having 2 attorneys for the price of one.
